Artist Biography and Statement Love of sculpture came early, but the act of sculpting came late. Bernie spent over four decades practicing law in New York City. His private practice concentrated in divorce and family law. He also had been a Federal Prosecutor , an Acting Village Judge and a published author. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and is biographied in Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in American Law. He traveled worldwide to cities such as Paris, St. Petersburg, Athens, Copenhagen, Florence, Rome, Barcelona, Bangkok, Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Beijing, and many others to draw inspiration and study their Sculpture Collections. Finally, in 2005, he semi-retired and began his long anticipated career as a Sculptor. He first studied with David Boyajian a master sculptor in Connecticut. In 2006 he attended the Southwest Stone Carving Workshop in New Mexico studying under, inter alia, Cliff Fragua, and T. Barney. In 2007 he studied at the Carving Studio and Sculpture Center in Vermont with B.Amore its founder and Eric David Laxman as his Facilitators. He is currently a pupil of Rollie Grandbois , an internationally recognized and award winning Native American Master Sculptor in New Mexico. Bernie and his wife Barbara divide their year between homes in Westchester County, New York and Corrales, New Mexico. His work in stone is primarily abstract or representational. He draws his artistic inspiration from Native American themes, the beauty of New Mexico’s rugged landscapes and from the raw emotions displayed by his clients in their struggles to fashion a new post divorce life.
